Past Projects

Construction

Coconut Roadway, Main and Connecting Roads
The Coconut Roadway was the first of projects undertaken at the Wesleyana Bible Camp. Its development was a series of ideas that first started with ringing the boundary of the campground with coconut palms. This idea came into fruition when hundreds of coconut seedlings were brought in from the Pomoroon region and left on the campground. The greatest obstacle was the huge trees on the western boundary that made this next to impossible. Thus, began a series of miracles when huge machines were brought in to take the obstacles out and make the roadway a reality it is today.

Dorms Renovations and New Dorms Buildings
The renovation of the existing dorms included the addition of sanitary section to every dorm in addition additional dorms were constructed. Renovations also included tiled floors for all the dorms and improved sleeping furniture of bunks. Interior and exterior painting with miscellaneous repairs completed this phase.

Kitchen and Dining Building Renovations
Renovations of the Dining and Kitchen Building involved the total screening of the building that resolved a very great discomfort of flies while dining. This was so successful the dining area also serves as a multi-craft area that is very popular with the youth.

Manager’s Residence Renovations
The managers residence was totally renovated with bedrooms on the second level and living quarters including a storage section on the ground level.

Worker’s Residence (Sheba) Building and Storage
“Sheba” the worker’s residence was a welcome addition to the structures and was built completely new with accommodations for up to four men if necessary. It was also elevated to house storage below for the machinery to carry out the agriculture tasks.

Creation of Agriculture Area
The creation of the agriculture area was the undertaking of a herculean tasks not only in the clearing of the acreage but the removing of the hundreds of stumps etc. to transform it to what it is today.

Deep Well and Elevated Storage for Water Distribution
The Deep well and storage facilities was a triumph of patience and perseverance over many years as we wrestled with unfortunate contractors and the temptation to do it the easy way at the lower level of the campsite rather the higher elevation where it is presently located. This was by far the most divisive project we were involved with and sadly the loss of some of the good men we had on our team.

Electrification Project (phase 1 &2)
The electrification of the Wesleyana Bible Camp has been the most beneficial project that we have so far being involved with and even thought it is still ongoing we ae already reaping the benefits of it with the ability to conduct meetings in the cool of the evenings and so much more important without the very noisy environment that was present when we had to use generators. Phase 1 that was of the most ambitious of our projects was the ringing of the campsite with underground cables not only for electrical but phone and internet lines. There are risers at every building as well as strategically placed to serve the lighted walkways between the dorms and service buildings. Phase 2 involved the tying into the national grid that supplies us the power we are using today. The final and last phase will be to re-wire the dorms and buildings to the current code.

Chicken Project (Electrical phase 3)
Faced with the increasing difficulty to raise funds for the completion of phase 3 of the Electrical Project we envisioned to start a project of poultry farming with the intent to use the profits to complete phase 3 of the electrical project. We had a number of startups and successive failures with this venture however we stayed with it and was making small but continued progress before the advent of Covid-19 that finally forced us to terminate the operation.

Education

Olpha Mosima
After a visit to Nairobi Kenya an appeal was made by a teacher of a single parent to aid her in the pursuit if higher education. Out of that appeal the Education Fund was created and Olpha Mosima was the very first individual to benefit from the fund as she graduated from Mount Kenya University.

As a recipient of your sponsorship, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous support and your investment in my education. The financial assistance you provided was of great help to me in paying my educational expenses. This allowed me to focus on my studies.

My educational pursuits would not be possible without your generous support from your organization (Guyana Outreach!). I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in special needs education (BSNE) at Mount Kenya University (MKU), where I graduated in the year 2017.

Your financial aid helped me to excel, turning my dreams into reality. Hence it enabled me to study to further my knowledge and turn it into skills in teaching. Thank you again, for it is your generosity that allowed me to propel into a career in teaching. Your generosity has inspired me as I impart knowledge to these young minds, hoping and believing that one day I will be able to help learners achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

With sincere thanks,
Olpha Mosima
